Are you getting hit with brain fog?
Feeling mentally exhausted, in a creative rut, full of brain fog, forgetting what you did the night before or just cant get your day to day done without draining yourself?! Then it might be time for your next acupuncture appointment. 🧐
Experiencing these symptoms tells us that your spleen is most likely out of balance. From a Chinese medicine perspective, the spleen is known to house the Yi, or one’s intellect. So an imbalance within the spleen can affect one's ability to think clearly! This will make it harder to recall memory, you may find yourself taking twice as long to study, fuzzy thinking and muddled words when talking, forgetting what you are talking about mid sentence, or lacking in creative juices.
We see this very often in students because they are constantly tapping into that spleen energy. And you may feel this when working on a big project at work or when you’re constantly having to make decisions. Mothers experience spleen deficiency quite often.
Nourishing the spleen qi can help you think more clearly when it’s been tapped out. We can do this through acupuncture, moxa, and herbal medicine in our clinics but you can also do this on your own at home.
A few tips to nourish your spleen:
✨Avoid cold, raw foods (veggies especially!) and substitute them with lightly cooked ones, or soups/stews, warm salads, etc.
✨Consume warm beverages rather than iced.
✨Eat with consistency. Meaning, if you love having breakfast at 9am, do that on a daily basis. The spleen thrives with routine meal times.
✨Take a break for meals. Sit down, turn off your phone or the TV, don’t pick up a book, and really just be present for your meal. Chew well. And even better yet, create a joyful surrounding through having good company present. Make mealtime an enjoyable experience.
Do yourself a favor and let us help you boost that brain power and balance that Yi. 🧠
