3 Ways to Improve Your Juicing Game
Recently celery juice has become a huge health trend and many people have turned to juicing to improve their health. So what’s the Traditional Chinese Medicine take on juicing?
Traditional Chinese Medicine isn’t exactly excited about juicing. Why is this, you might ask? Well, TCM focuses very strongly on the energetics of the foods we put into our bodies. “Energetics” refers to the nature or the temperature of something - even fruits and vegetables have these characteristics. Generally when we are juicing, we are using cold fruits and veggies. This overload of cold nutrients can wreak havoc on our digestive system, and our digestive organs can, in turn, have a difficult time with the digestion and absorption of the nutrients.
So what are you to do if you just can’t give up the juice? Here are three helpful tips to make your juice creations more Chinese Medicine friendly!
1) Load up on raw ginger! Ginger is super warming and can help balance out the cold, making the nutrients more bioavailable.
2) Follow your juice with a warm tea, ideally with some raw ginger in it. Cut the ginger into 3-4 dime sized pieces and drop it into your favorite tea.
3) Pull your fruits & veggies out of the fridge the night before you’re planning to juice them. This allows them to reach room temperature, which is much less of a shock to your system!
